Hello, and welcome to Sakura Sunrise Bengals, Savannahs and Serengetis. Please keep checking here for all our latest news and litter announcements.
All is going well here. Some of the Savannah and Bengal kittens have left for their new homes, with more leaving shortly. We have two beautiful litters of snows from Flake and Bagpuss, and Lunas litter are so amazingly friendly, we will have real trouble parting ourselves from any of them.
Finally we have been able to get away to a show for a couple of days. We took our new future Savannah queen Xcell who was on Exhibition for the weekend. However, one of the judges was kind enough to do an assessment of her. She said that Xcell was a very pretty cat with lovely background colour, good clear spots, and she would probably do well if we took her to America to show her. Xcell behaved fantastically all weekend, especially after getting stuck behind the hotel sink (in the cabinet) on the morning of the show.
Our kittens are all growing up fast and we have some ready to leave from next weekend.
Due to some illness in the family we have been unable to update the website until now. There are several litters of Bengals and Savannahs available to go from mid October onwards.
Purrsonality has had a gorgeous litter of Savannah kittens, with lovely long legs and some good markings. They are nearly 5 weeks old now, and are very playful. Pictures will be added to the Savannah kitten page in the next few days.
Citagirl also had a lovely litter of brown spotted Bengal kittens almost 5 weeks ago. They have very impressive markings and we will be holding onto at least one of them for showing in the future. Both Sakura and Ume have recently had a litter of silvers. We will be adding photos of Citagirls kittens in the next few days, and the younger litters will be added over the next few weeks once we have had a good look at them and assess which ones we will be keeping to show.
We have had a very busy time with the arrival of kittens, and they are doing very well. They have some lovely markings, and are still under assessment at the moment. We will be updating the kitten page with photos and details very soon.
It has been quite some time since we had chance to update the site, and so much has happened. We will be attempting to add details of our new cats over the next couple of weeks.
We are having a very busy time here at the moment and have had to miss a few shows which has been very disappointing for us. We have been trying to sell our house because we have found a dream property with acres of room for the cats and for us to start a smallholding. Unfortunately as you all know the housing market had gone rapidly down hill so we are finding things quite stressful at the moment. We have to be here most weekends for viewings and have been unable to commit to showing the cats because of this. We really enjoy going to the cat shows and meeting other breeders and it has been very frustrating feeling as though our life is on hold. We also feel that the cats are getting very unsettled with all the disruption of the viewings. The good news is that we should be having a few litters over the next few months and we will update the site regularly with the birth announcements. We have decided that we will probably take our house of the market for a while so the cats can have their litters in peace and quiet.
We've added new photos to Purrsonality's page and plan to add a lot more to the rest of the site over the next few days. We had another new arrival today. Photos to come once our long awaited baby has settled in.
The last two weeks have flown by. As well as looking after the cats/kids/etc we have had some news about our Savannah girl, Purrsonality. She came over to the UK and straight into quarantine, and we thought that we would no longer be having her. We were obviously disappointed at the time, as we had been looking forward to her joining us. After chatting with Jacky at Purebliss Savannahs we have decided that she will join us after all, once her quarantine is up in a few months time. We are so excited to be finally having this girl.
We have had a busy time since the show. We have had a beautiful silver girl join us from SilverStorm bengals. She is such a well socialised little kitten, and has fitted straight in. She has already moved into our sons bedroom, and loves to be with the children all the time. We also had two gorgeous girls join us from Niteo Bengals. They are our first snow marbles, and have fantastic coats, good profiles, and lovely short tails, but as they are a little bit older they are understandably a little more nervous in their new home. You have to be a very brave cat to join our household, with all the rest of the cats, dogs, chickens, and children. However, this does tend to mean that they are very well socialised and can face anything. Pictures of the new additions will be added in the coming weeks, once all the new arrivals have settled in.
We came back from another very enjoyable TICA show late yesterday. We took Ume and Monarch again to this one, but left Sakura behind this time as she really didn't like being shown before, and we didn't want to stress her out unnecessarily. There were four rigs of judges, and Monarch came away consistently with 2nds and 3rds in Colour and Division. Ume did amazingly well again, gaining a number of 1sts and 2nds, and also managing to final in 2 out of the four rings. We are very pleased with both cats as the day puts them in a very unfamiliar situation, which they both handled very well. Next time we are thing of taking a couple of different cats to see how they take to the show ring.
We cannot wait to show our Savannahs, so watch this space for Savannahs being shown at a TICA show near you in the near future.
Today we took Hero with us when we went to visit the in-laws. The Savannahs have such a laid back personality he took the journey with ease, and enjoyed meeting people when we took him for a walk along the seafront and down onto the beach. As you can imagine, he generated a great deal of interest!! It was great to see him rolling around on the sand. (Don’t worry – we made sure any dogs were over the other end of the beach)
Fire has settled in well, has made good friends with Monarch, and they enjoy playing together, although they do tend to try and trip us up when they are running around the house engrossed in a chasing game. It's fun to sit and watch. We had another beauty arrive today from Starwinds, she is such a little sweetheart, and sat on my lap for ages this evening. Photos of her will probably be put up next week once she has had time to settle in.
Hero and Smoke have settled in fantastically. Smoke was calling when she arrived, so she spent a few days making friends with Hero, so fingers crossed that we hear the pitter patter of tiny feet soon. Again, we have to comment on their amazingly friendly personality. Credit has to go to Martin and Kathrin of A1 Savannahs for producing such well natured cats. We have nicknamed Smoke 'Shadow', as she loves nothing better than being with one of the family, and is often found snuggling on somebody’s lap. We have three children and two dogs, and she had accepted them all in the first few days. We love this girl. Hero is enjoying being out in his run, and whenever one of us goes to play with him he likes lo launch himself at you, and hold around your neck with his paws. We call him our gentle bear. We also keep hens, and we had him out on lead next to them, and he hasn't been bothered by them.
We've also added some more photos, so take a look at their pages.
We have been meaning to update this, but we have been really busy with the cats. We had a gorgeous boy join us today, and we give huge thanks to Karen of Tarantela Bengals for ‘Tarantela Man on Fire’. He is such a handsome boy, and is very friendly. We will be getting photos, and more of an update on him once he has had chance to settle in.
We went to the "Snowdrops & Snowflakes" Cattica show in Birmingham this weekend, and showed a couple of our kittens for their first time. Both did well, consistently getting placed at least 2nd or 3rd. Ume did exceptionally well, as one of the judges awarded her 2nd best kitten in show. Many thanks must go to Jill at Glitterglam Bengals for producing such an exceptional cat. We are very very proud of Ume and Monarch.
We then traveled straight on after the show to pick up a an amazing bengal kitten from Liz at Junglefire Bengals. Katsumi will have her photos added to the site later this month after she has settled in with the rest of our cats.
The following day we traveled to pick up our first two Savannahs who have been well looked after by Jacky Bliss at Purebliss Savannahs. They are now home, and are settling in well. More photos of them will be posted soon, once we have caught up on some sleep. One thing we have noticed about them is how friendly and relaxed they are.
After all the excitement and all the waiting our Savannahs are flying in tomorrow. We have been planning and waiting for this moment, and after studying the photos endlessly we will soon be meeting the first of our Savannahs. Watch this space for updated photographs and news on how the Savannahs are settling in.
